Cool Try Bro: Shorelines Interview

Who are you and what are you doing here? (what is your name, what is the band and what is your role in the band?)

We are Shorelines, a dual vocalist pop/punk band from Brisbane, Australia, and we are here to provide the world with tunes! My name is Harry White and I am a lead vocalist and play the bass, Dylan Thompson is also a lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Sean Fisher is our lead guitarist and Shaman Grayson is our drummer!

How did the band start?

The band started after Dylan and I’s last band, Call The Shots, broke up and we decided we wanted to start on something new. We came up with Shorelines and wrote some songs which we used to find Sean and Shaman! It worked out really well and we try and hang out as much as possible, inside and outside of music.

How would you describe your band?

I’d describe us as… fun and relatable. We want people listening to our music or coming to our shows to have an amazing time, but also to feel what we sing and play about.

If you had to choose one song you’ve written that best defines your band which one would it be?

I think we would all agree that “New Heights” is a good song describe us as a group, and that’s why we released it as our first major song. It explains how we are ready to take on the world together and enjoy doing so.

In this day and age where anyone is pretty much able to pick up an instrument, what would you say sets your band apart from the rest?

Definitely the way we write our songs, perform, and also interact with our fans. We try to write about a whole range of topics and experiences with pop lyrics and rock guitar tones and sounds, and punk rhythms, and perform them with as much energy as possible. We also try to involve as many people as possible on our journey as a band.

Where are people able to hear your songs?

Everywhere! We have tried getting them everywhere so that people can’t miss them. Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Google Play, Apple Music… and even the Shazam music recognition app!

Are you playing any shows anytime soon?

We sure are, and we are all very excited! We have our EP launch show on the 15th of July this year, and we are also playing an acoustic park show with some other bands on the 2nd of July.

What is your proudest moment/greatest achievement as a band?

Releasing our debut EP ‘New Heights’ has to be our biggest step so far. The response has been incredible and we aim to keep pushing it until our next release.

Tell us 3 bands that we should be listening to/be keeping an eye out for?

With Confidence are SMASHING it at the moment, I don’t even think they could be considered a small band anymore, it’s awesome! Stateside are on the rise, and I know Kids In Control have some bangers on the way soon!
